Game Notes
#2 Sooners blow past the #1 Nittany Lions to win 25-10 and claim the national championship.
Oklahoma comes up with the big plays on offense and defense, and kick Penn State out of the top spot. After Tim Manoa's 1-yard TD run gives the Lions a 7-0 lead, Tim Lashar kicks the first of his 4 FGs getting Oklahoma on the board.
The Sooners follow with a 71-yard TD pass from Jamelle Holloway to Keith Jackson, and Lashar adds to more FGs as Oklahoma builds a 16-10 lead by halftime. The Sooners put it away in the second half when Lydell Carr breaks free for a 61-yard TD run.
Carr finishes with 148 yards. The defense, which intercepts 4 Penn State passes, puts a stop to any rally. D.J. Dozier is held to 39 yards rushing.
