Game Notes

#7 Wolverines run for the roses after surviving with a 26-24 win win over the #8 Buckeyes.

Ohio State's bid for the Rose Bowl sails wide left on Matt Frantz's 46-yard FG attempt with just over a minute to play. Its a disappointing finish for the Buckeyes after a fantastic start that saw them score on their 1st 2 possessions with a 4-yard TD pass from Jim Karsatos to Cris Carter and a 46-yard TD run by Vince Workman to take a 14-3 lead.

However, the Ohio State offense goes stagnant while the diminutive Jamie Morris begins to carry Michigan. Morris rushes for 210 yards and 2 TDs. His 8-yard TD run late in the 3rd quarter gives the Wolverines a 19-17 lead before Thomas Wilcher extends it to 26-17 with a 7-yard TD run early in the 4th quarter.

The Buckeyes then get their 2nd chances as Darryl Lee blocks a Michigan FG attempt, and Karsatos follows with a 17-yard TD pass to Carter, and Wilcher fumbles as the Wolverines try to burn up the clock, allowing Ohio State to drive for the final failed FG attempt.

Workman rushes for 126 yards, while Carter catches 7 passes for 75 yards and 2 TDs. Karsatos throws for 188 yards, while Jim Harbaugh answers with 261 yards passing for the Wolverines.
