Game Notes

Volunteers strike late to beat the Hoosiers 27-22.

Tennessee recovers from giving up 19 straight points to win it when Reggie Cobb scores on a 9-yard run w/ 1:52 to play. Cobb finishes with 146 yards and 2 TDs.

Cobb's 1st score on a 6-yarder starts the scoring in the 1st quarter as the Volunteers threaten to run away from Indiana. After Pete Stoyanovich sets a Peach Bowl-record with a 52-yard FG, Jeff Francis finds Anthony Miller behind the defense for a 45-yard TD pass. He adds a 15-yarder to Terrence Cleveland. Francis finishes 20-of-26 for 225 yards.

The Volunteers appear poised for KO after taking over deep in Indiana territory, but a fumble sparks a 91-yard drive by Indiana, capped by Dave Schnell's 43-yard TD pass to Ernie Jones.

The Hoosiers close further on a 12-yard TD run by Anthony Thompson in the 3rd quarter, and then take the lead when Tim Jorden converts a fake FG attempt, taking the snap and running in for a 12-yard TD.

Schnell throws for 218 yards while Jones catches 7 passes for 150 yards.
