After trailing 7-0 and 10-7, Florida State takes over and dominates. Peter Tom Willis shreds the Nebraska defense for 422 yards and 5 TDs, both Fiesta Bowl records. Willis puts the Seminoles ahead for good with a 5-yard TD pass to Reggie Johnson in the 2nd quarter.

Florida State's offense has so much success against the Cornhuskers' defense, that the Seminoles overcome a 1st-and-40 following 3 consecutive holding penalties, to pick up a 1st down en route to Willis' 10-yard TD pass for Dexter Carter for a 21-10 halftime lead. Willis hits Johnson for another TD, and connects with Terry Anthony on a 2nd TD pass open a 34-10 lead in the 3rd quarter.
