Oklahoma State hangs close, trailing Nebraska 20-16 with the in Cornhuskers' territory before Bruce Pickens picks off Mike Gundy in the end zone. Nebraska then scores the next 21 points to run away with the game.

Gerry Gdowski throws for 170 yards and 2 TDs, and rushes for 125 yards and 1 TD to lead the Cornhuskers. Ken Clark adds 2 TDs for Nebraska helping offset a 208-yard receiving day by the Cowboys' Curtis Mayfield.
