#7 Hurricanes humble the #1 Irish 27-10.

Miami's defense smothers Notre Dame, and the Hurricanes come up with the game-changing plays.The Irish capitalize on a missed fumble call to tie the game 10-10 in the 2nd quarter, but in the closing minutes of the 1st half Miami makes one of the critical plays.

Bernard Clark steps in front of a Tony Rice pass and returns it to the Irish 8 to set up Stephen McGuire's TD run. The second huge play comes early in the 3rd quarter, when Craig Erickson hits Randal Hill for a 44-yard completion after facing 3rd-and-43 from Miami's 7. Erickson caps the 22-play drive with a 5-yard TD pass to Dale Dawkins for a 24-10 lead.
