Southern Cal writes on last chapter of disappointment for Bo Schembechler in his last game and Rose Bowl, beating Michigan on Ricky Ervins' 14-yard TD run w/ 1:12 left. Ervins finishes with 126 yards rushing and 5 catches for 44 yards to lead the Trojans.

Southern Cal lead 10-3 at halftime after Todd Marinovich improvised on a botched hand off to run it in for a 1-yard TD run. However, the Wolverines tie the game on Allen Jefferson's 2-yard TD run late in the 3rd quarter. However, there would be no happy end for Schembechler, who completed a stellar 21-year run as coach of Michigan with his 8th defeat in 10 Rose Bowl appearances.
