Southern Cal is beset by missed opportunities and mistakes but its defense is still stout enough to blank Stanford, holding it to under 100 total yards until the middle of the 4th quarter, allowing just 134 for the game, and a minus-6 yards rushing. Ricky Ervins leads the offense with 101 yards rushing and 1 TD as the Trojans play ball control to dominate the game.

Ervins' 9-yard TD run gives Southern Cal a 10-0 lead in the 2nd quarter. Leroy Holt's 5-yard TD run in the 3rd quarter pushes the lead to 19-0.
