Illinois' late rally drops Colorado to 1-1-1. Howard Griffith scores on a 1-yard TD run w/ 1:18 left after Jason Verduzco leads the Illini on a 10-play, 63-yard drive to win it. Verduzco goes 23-of-29 for 222 yards and 2 TDs.

Colorado had jumped out to a 17-3 lead on a TD run by George Hemmingway and a TD pass from Darian Hagan. However, Illini draws even with an 8-yard TD pass from Verduzco to Elbert Turner, and then a 4-yarder to Shawn Wax. The Buffaloes go back in front when Greg Biekert pins Illinois for a safety, and a FG extends the lead to 22-17.
