#8 Volunteers rally to tie the #5 Buffaloes 31-31 in the Pigskin Classic at Anaheim Stadium.

Down 24-10 and 31-17, Tennessee battles back behind Andy Kelly to force the tie. Kelly's 24-yard TD pass to Alvin Harper starts his 4th quarter resurgence after tossing 3 INTs. After Mike Pritchard answers, taking a pitch from Darian Hagan 78 yards for a TD, Kelly cuts the lead back to a TD with a 15-yard TD pass to Carl Pickens.

The Volunteers draw even when Chuck Webb scores on a 5-yard TD run. Webb rushes for 134 yards on 27 carries, but his final one fails to stop the clock allowing Tennessee a last FG attempt to win. However, Colorado blocked 2 FGs by the Vols in the 1st quarter.

Kelly throws for 368 yards and 2 TDs, but Pritchard, filling in for suspended Eric Bieniemy, answers with 217 yards and 2 TDs for Colorado. The Buffaloes appeared to be in control after Dave McCloughan returns a punt 55 yards for a TD and 24-10 lead early in the 4th quarter.
