Miami rides a power running game and big-play defense to drop Florida State from the unbeaten ranks. Stephen McGuire carries the Hurricanes, rushing for 176 yards and 1 TD, while Leonard Conley adds 144 yard rushing and 2 TDs.

Conley runs for a pair of TDs in the 1st half, helping Miami open a 17-0 lead and then Craig Erickson hits Lamar Thomas for a 10-yard TD pass. The Seminoles claw back to within 24-16 in the 2nd half before McGuire bursts through for a 2-yard TD with 5:11 left. Miami forces 4 turnovers to stall Florida State.
