Michigan erases a 18-7 1st half deficit as Elvis Grbac, Desmond Howard and Jesse Johnson take over. Johnson powers the attack with 168 yards and 2 TDs on the ground, while Grbac and Howard provide the highlights, connecting on a pair of TD passes. Grbac adds a 3rd TD pass to Johnson.

After a blocked punt and fumble help Iowa to a 18-7 lead, the Wolverines convert a failed fake punt by the Hawkeyes as Johnson scores on a 28-yard screen pass from Grbac and 19-18 lead. Grbac hits Howard with a 20-yard TD pass to Howard in the 3rd quarter, and then again on a 2-yarder early in the 4th for a 33-18 lead.
