Game Notes
#11 Cornhuskers weather rain, freezing temps and the #14 Sooners to win a trip to the Orange Bowl with a 19-14 victory.
Nebraska rallies from an early 14-0 deficit to earn a share of the Big 8 Championship. Calvin Jones' 15-yard TD run w/ 2:57 left gives the Huskers' their only lead of the game. Playing in a steady rain with temperatures hovering in the low 30s, Nebraska's offense grinds it out as it rallies against Oklahoma.
The Huskers rush for 159 yards in the 2nd half, chipping away at the Sooners' 14-3 halftime lead with a 5-yard TD run by Keithen McCant and then a pair of FGs by Byron Bennett. Jones rushes for 98 yards and Derek Brown adds 118 yards.
The Sooners had converted a short punt following a mishandling of the opening kickoff into a 1-yard TD run by Cale Gundy and then turned a fumble into a 1-yard TD run by Mike Gaddis. But Nebraska stalled the Oklahoma offense from then on, holding the Sooners to 187 yards.
