Boston College withstands a big 4th quarter rally by Penn State after opening a 35-10 lead. Glenn Foley throws for 344 yards and 4 TDs to spark the Eagles to their 1st win at Beaver Stadium.

Foley connects Pete Mitchell for a pair of TD passes late in the 2nd quarter to give Boston College a 28-10 halftime lead. Foley starts the 3rd quarter with a 20-yard TD pass for a 35-10 lead before Kerry Collins leads a late rally to draw within 3 points with just over a minute left. Penn State recovers the ensuing onside kick, but Joe Kamara picks off Collins on the next play.
