#5 Seminoles escape Death Valley with a 24-20 win over the #15 Tigers.

Clemson threatens to pull off the upset, taking advantage of 4 INTs by Charlie Ward, including one James Trapp returns 39 yards for a TD and 13-10 lead in the 3rd quarter. However, Ward responds late for Florida State, rallying the Noles on a final drive that he caps with a 9-yard TD pass to Kevin Knox for the lead w/ 2:08 left.

Ward goes 20-of-39 for 258 yards and 2 TDs, hitting Matt Frier on an 11-yard TD pass for a 17-13 lead late in the 3rd quarter. However, the Tigers won't give up on the upset bid, responding with a 35-yard TD pass from Richard Moncrief to Terry Smith in the 4th quarter to regain the lead.
