Michigan forces a tie when Peter Elezovic hits a 39-yard FG w/ :16 left. Illinois had taken a 22-19 lead on Jason Verduzco's 2-yard TD run with 2:26 to play.

The Wolverines struggled throughout with mistakes, fumbling 10 times, losing 4 and having 6 turnovers. Michigan turned it over on 5 straight possessions in the 1st half after taking an early lead on Elvis Grbac's TD pass to Tyrone Wheatley on the opening possession.
