San Diego State is under-manned with Marshall Faulk sidelined by an injury, leaving Miami to coast behind Gino Torretta. Torretta throws for 318 yards and 1 TD, and the Hurricanes return a pair of turnovers for scores.

Lamar Thomas and Horace Copeland each top the 100-yard mark, with Thomas setting the Miami school record for career receptions with 144. The Hurricanes sprint out to a 28-3 lead in the 1st half and then finish off the Aztecs with 35 points in the 3rd quarter, highlighted by TD returns by Dexter Seigler and Ryan McNeil.
