David Gordon's career-best 41-yard FG on the final play decides it after Notre Dame had erased a 38-17 deficit to take the lead on Kevin McDougal's 4-yard TD pass to Lake Dawson w/ 1:09 to play. Glenn Foley, who throws for 315 yards and 4 TDs, rallies Boston College for the winning FG.

The Eagles' upset seemed well in hand after Foley's 2nd TD pass to Pete Mitchell gives them a 38-17 lead. However, 2 fumbled snaps open the door for the Irish rally.
