Holding on to a 14-10 lead, Michigan's defense makes 2 critical stands in the 4th quarter, stopping Penn State on 4 tries from the half-yard line, and then forcing a FG from the 8 on ensuing possessions. The Wolverines then strike back with a 5-yard TD pass from Todd Collins to Che Foster w/ 5:12 left on the following possession.

Collins hits Mercury Hayes with a 16-yard TD pass in the 3rd quarter to give Michigan a 14-10 lead. Tyrone Wheatley rushes for 192 yards against Penn State, while the Wolverines stop Ki-Jana Carter in the critical 2nd half after Carter rushes for over 100 yards in the 1st half, holding him to just 24 yards after halftime.
