#5 Gators subdue stubborn Bulldogs 38-24.

Florida gets the big plays to finally break free from Mississippi State. The Gators come out ahead after a series of lead changes. Todd Jordan hits Eric Moulds with a 63-yard TD pass 2 plays after Judd Davis' 46-yard FG gave Florida its first lead of the game. However, John Jackson returns the ensuing kickoff 100 yards to regain Florida's lead at 24-21.

Jordan throws for 416 yards and 2 TDs, but is unable to match Florida's Danny Wuerffel and fleet of receivers. Wuerffel throws for a Gator-record 449 yards and 3 TDs, all to Chris Doering, who catches 12 passes for 199 yards.
