#11 Wildcats squeak by the Cardinal 27-24.

Arizona rallies from a 17-0 deficit and then wins it after a critical Stanford turnover. With the score tied 24-24 late in the game and the Wildcats' offense stalled, the Desert Swarm defense forces a fumble by Steve Stenstrom that's converted into Steve McLaughlin's 27-yard FG as time expires.

Stenstrom had scorched the Wildcats for 339 yards and 2 TDs. However, after a fast start Stanford was unable to convert yards to points. Arizona takes a 24-17 lead on Billy Johnson's 3-yard TD run late in the 3rd quarter, but the Cardinal tie it again on Ellery Roberts' 7-yard TD run early in the 4th quarter.
