Washington State prevails when Todd Jensen picks off Justin Watson's 4th down pass into the end zone w/ :31 left. The Cougars' defense smothers Baylor through out and survives a desperate rally.

Washington State capitalized on an early mistake by the Bears when a roughing the punter penalty keeps alive its 1st drive of the game. The Cougars continue on and take the lead on Kevin Hicks' 1-yard TD run. Tony Truant stretches the lead to 10-0 before halftime with a 37-yard FG. Chad Davis throws for 286 yards for Washington State.
