Alabama wins with late heroics as Jay Barker hits Sherman Williams on a short pass, and Williams does the rest for a 50-yard TD w/ :42 left. Ohio State fails on 2 passes into the end zone in the final 10 seconds as the Tide claims the win after trailing 17-14 in the 4th quarter.

The Tide had tied it on Michael Proctor's 27-yard FG, after he had missed a chip shot and had another blocked. After Ohio State's next drive short-circuited, it set the stage for the winning TD. Williams sets an school bowl record with 166 yards rushing and adds 8 catches and 155 yards. Williams also had a TD run in the 1st half. Bobby Hoying and Joey Galloway combined on 2 TDs for the Buckeyes.
