Penn State scores 21 points on Southern Cal in the 1st quarter turning the game into a rout early. Ki-Jana Carter rushes for 119 yards, including a 32-yard TD run to cap the opening drive. Kerry Collins follows with the 1st of his 2 TD passes, a 44-yarder to Freddie Scott.

After Jon Wittman caps the 1st quarter with a 7-yard TD run, Brian Milne starts the 2nd quarter with a 1-yard TD run. Collins' 19-yard TD pass to Bobby Engram gives the Lions a 35-0 halftime lead.
