Southern Cal defeats Washington State for the 7th straight time, and 23rd time in the last 24 meetings despite entering as an underdog. The Cougars defense keeps the game tight until the 2nd half when the Trojans' big plays are too much.

Keyshawn Johnson catches 8 passes for 145 yards and 3 TDs to spark Southern Cal. Rob Johnson hits Johnson for an 8-yard TD pass and 13-3 lead in the 3rd quarter. Washington State converts an interception into a 33-yard TD pass from Chad Davis to Eric Moore in the 4th quarter, however, the Trojans answer with 2 big pass plays.

Johnson and Johnson combine for a 3rd TD, on a 64-yarder and then Johnson hits Ed Hervey for a 44-yard completion setting up Cole Ford's 37-yard FG.
