#11 Crimson Tide staggers to a 17-7 win over the Commodores.

Alabama capitalizes on a Vanderbilt turnovers to provide some missing punch and avoid the upset. The Crimson Tide converts a pair of turnovers into short TD drives, the first opening a 7-0 lead the other resulting in a 2-yard TD run by Curtis Alexander in the 4th quarter to put the game away.

Vanderbilt answers Alabama's early TD with a 25-yard TD run by Cliff Deese and uses stingy defense and ball control to maintain a 7-7 tie into the 4th quarter before a 31-yard FG by Michael Proctor finally breaks the deadlock. Sherman Williams rushes for 125 yards with the rest of the Tide managing just 97 yards total offense.
