Bruins beat down erring Bears 33-16.

Cal outgains UCLA for much of the game, but is undone by 4 turnovers and missed scoring opportunities. In the end, the Bruins have an unstoppable force with Karim Abdul-Jabbar, who rushes for 217 yards and 1 TD to put the finishing touches on the Bears.

Three turnovers, a missed FG and another blocked, help UCLA hold a 10-7 halftime lead. The Bruins turn a fumble on the opening play of the 2nd half into 16-7 lead on Tommy Bennett's 22-yard return. Each time Cal threatens to come back, UCLA has an answer with Cade McNown hitting Jim McElroy for an 11-yard TD pass and Abdul-Jabbar adding a 3-yard TD run.
