Tigers blow past the Spartans for a 45-26 win.

Trailing 24-21 at the half, LSU strikes for 21 points in the 3rd quarter to claim the game. Kevin Faulk's 5-yard TD run puts the Tigers ahead early in the 3rd quarter. Then Gabe Northern returns a Michigan State fumble 37 yards for a TD.

Herb Tyler hits Eddie Kennison with a 27-yard TD pass to push the lead to 42-24. Kennison has 5 catches for 124 yards and also returns a kickoff 92 yards for a TD. The Spartans answered Kennison's return TD with a 100-yard return by Derrick Mason.

The 2 kickoffs returned for scores were part of a big-play first half that also included a 78-yard TD pass from Tony Banks to Muhsin Muhammad on the 2nd play of the game. After Mason's TD return gave the Spartans a 21-14 lead, Faulk scored on a 51-yard TD run to tie it.
