Wildcats stun #9 Irish 17-15.

Northwestern knocks off Notre Dame for the 1st time since 1962 as Darnell Autry rushes for 160 yards and Steve Schnur tosses a pair of TD passes. Schnur's 26-yard TD pass to D'Wayne Bates opens a 17-9 lead for the Wildcats in the 3rd quarter.

The Irish, who missed an early PAT after a bobbled snap, get a 4-yard TD run by Randy Kinder in the 4th quarter, but Ron Powlus is tripped by a lineman's foot on the 2-point play, leaving Northwestern with a 17-15 lead.The Wildcats make a 4th-and-2 stop in its own territory to deny a Notre Dame rally.
