Game Notes
#6 Seminoles rally to beat the #8 Irish 31-26.
Florida State stages a big 4th quarter rally to overtake Notre Dame in the last true "Orange Bowl" game as future games are moved from the historic site. Danny Kanell and Andre Cooper set Orange Bowl records with 4 TD passes and 3 TD catches, respectively.
Their final TD hook up completes the Seminoles comeback after falling behind 26-14 early in the 4th quarter. Florida State responds to a Notre Dame TD with Kanell's 10-yard TD pass to E.G. Green. Dee Feaster's 41-yard punt return sets up the go-ahead TD, an 11-yard TD pass from Kanell to Cooper.
The Irish, 10-point underdogs playing without Ron Powlus and Autry Denson, are unable to mount an answer after dominating the 3rd quarter to erase a 14-10 lead and go-ahead 26-14 on Thomas Krug's 9-yard TD pass to Pete Chryplewicz.
