Southern Cal starts fast, then holds off a 2nd half surge by Cal with the help of some critical turnovers and defensive stops. The Bears try to stage a late rally, but fail on a 2-point try and a late drive stalls as the Trojans stay unbeaten.

As Cal appears to be gaining momentum in the 2nd half, LaVale Woods breaks free for a 19-yard TD run, his 2nd, giving Southern Cal a 26-10 lead. However, the Bears spark a late flicker when Na'il Benjamin returns a punt 55 yards for a TD but a 2-point try fails leaving them 2 scores behind.
