Notre Dame dominates between the 20s, but needs a big 4th quarter drive to secure the win over Vanderbilt. The Irish outgain the Commodores 434-to-126 but only manage a 6-0 lead into the 4th quarter on a pair of Jim Sansom FGs.

Vanderbilt grabs a stunning lead when Damian Allen hits Todd Yoder on a 50-yard TD pass on 3rd-and-37. However, Notre Dame answers on the ensuing possession with a 14-play drive capped by Marc Edwards' 3-yard TD run w/ 4:59 left.
