Hurricanes beat the Cavaliers 31-21.

Miami rides a big performance by defensive and special teams standout Tremain Mack to carry it over Virginia. Mack has 2 TD returns on a fumble and an interception, and later adds a blocked FG allowing the Hurricanes to maintain a 10-point cushion in the 2nd half.

Miami jumps on the Cavaliers on its 3rd offensive play when Ryan Clement connects with Yatil Green for a 70-yard TD pass. Mack pushes the lead to 14-0 with a 79-yard fumble return and then extends the lead to 24-7 with a 42-yard INT return in the 2nd quarter.

Virginia rallies in the 2nd half but comes up empty on most occasions, managing just 3 scores on 13 trips into Miami territory. Mack and Kenny Holmes each block FG attempts.
