Memphis stages on solitary drive when it matters as Qadry Anderson's 3-yard TD pass to Chris Powers with :34 left to cap an 70-yard drive after Tennessee had taken a 17-14 lead. The Tigers had managed just barely 100 yards of offense until the winning drive.

Defense and special teams managed to carry the day for Memphis, which scored its first victory over the Volunteers in 16 tries. The Tigers managed their other scores on an INT return and a kickoff return.
