Irish escape with a 21-17 win over the Midshipmen.

Notre Dame needs a late rally, and game-saving tackle to extend its winning streak over Navy to 34 games. The Irish can claim victory after Allen Rossum pushed Pat McGrew out of bounds at the 2-yard line after McGrew hauls in a deflected Hail Mary as time expires.

Navy had led 17-14 until a 93-yard TD drive in the 4th quarter following Benny Gilbeaux's INT of Chris McCoy in the end zone. Notre Dame then drives 93 yards on 17 plays, riding Ron Powlus and Autry Denson most of the way. Denson caps the with a 5-yard TD run w/ 5:48 to play.

Denson rushes for 125 yards and 2 TDs on 19 carries. McCoy leads the Middies' upset bid, rushing for 147 yards and 2 TDs while throwing for 122 yards but also suffering 3 INTs.
