Hawaii had gone ahead 22-14 on Charles Tharp's 8-yard TD run w/ 13:34 left in the game. The Irish respond cutting the deficit to 22-20 on Autry Denson's 4-yard TD run, but Notre Dame's 2-point attempt fails. Tharp finishes with 114 yards rushing and 2 TDs. Denson has 143 yards rushing and 2 TDs.
