Boilermakers shock the #15 Irish 28-17.

Purdue snaps an 11-game losing streak to Notre Dame with big-play defense and a strong effort by Billy Dicken. Dicken hits 26-of-39 for 352 yards as the Boilermakers answer each challenge by the Irish.

Down 14-10 in the 4th quarter, Notre Dame is driving when Ron Powlus fumbles and Adrian Beasley picks it up and returns it for a TD. After the Irish close to within 21-17 w/ 1:47 to play, Purdue recovers the onside kick and Dicken leads the Boilermakers to the clinching score on Kendall Matthews' 3-yard TD.

Edwin Watson rushes for 2 TDs for Purdue while Vinny Sutherland catches 8 passes for 100 yards. Notre Dame is lead by Autry Denson, who rushes for 104 yards and 1 TD, and catches 7 passes for 54 yards.
