Game Notes

#3 Volunteers overcome themselves and #11 Tigers for 30-29 win.

Tennessee commits 6 turnovers, including 4 in the 1st half, and has 3 big returns against it, but prevails when Peyton Manning and Marcus Nash combine on a 73-yard TD pass early in the 4th quarter to lift the Volunteers past Auburn. Manning throws for 373 yards and 4 TDs, and 2 INTs.

The Tigers lead by 20-10 at the half, on the strength of a 24-yard fumble return by Brad Ware and a 51-yard TD pass from Dameyune Craig to Tyrone Goodson. Tennessee starts the 2nd half with a rally, but a drive that appears destined to draw the Volunteers even or put them ahead goes the other way when James Brady corrals a bobbled pass and returns it 77 yards setting up a 24-yard TD pass from Craig to Fred Beasley.

Tennessee battles back, but after Manning hits Jermaine Copeland with a 5-yard TD pass, Auburn blocks the ensuing PAT and returns it for 2 points and a 29-23 lead.
