Down 24-3 at the half, the Bruins climb back within 27-24 before the Volunteers put together a long drive to set up Jeff Hall's 36-yard FG to take a 30-24 lead late in the 4th quarter. UCLA reaches the Tennessee 20 w/ :30 left before failing to convert on 4th down.

Peyton Manning throws for 341 yards and 2 TD passes to lead the Vols with Marcus Nash catching 8 passes for 117 yards and 1 TD. Cade McNown hits 29-of-43 for 400 yards and 1 TD, but also suffers 2 INTs. Skip Hicks runs for 70 yards and 1 TD and catches 7 passes for 117 yards and 1 TD, but also suffers a costly fumble that slows the Bruins' rally.
