Arizona answers an early FG by San Diego State with 28 straight points in the 1st half to pull away. Keith Smith starts the Wildcats' QB tandem with a TD pass and 2 TD runs. Ortege Jenkins leads another scoring drive in the 2nd quarter.

Smith follows his 19-yard TD pass to Jeremy McDaniel with TD runs of 20 and 30 yards. Smith finishes 10-of-16 for 121 yards. McDaniel adds a 2nd TD catch from Jenkins in the 2nd half. The Aztecs get 146 yards and 1 TD rushing from Larry Ned.
