Purdue ruins Daunte Culpepper, Central Florida's national TV debut with its own productive offense and opportunistic defense. Culpepper hits 30-of-47 for 368 yards and 1 TD, but also suffers an INT, several drops and the Knights fumble away the ball twice.

Leading 7-0 on the 1st of 2 TD passes by Drew Brees, when Michael Hawthorne picks off Culpepper and then laterals to Billy Gustin who returns it to complete a 65-yard TD and 14-0 lead. Brees finishes 14-of-24 for 223 yards.
