Game Notes
Illini break through with a 13-10 win over the Wildcats.
Illinois holds off a 4th quarter rally by Northwestern to snap a 15-game Big 10 losing streak, and beat a Division 1 team on the road for the 1st time in 20 tries. Freshman Rocky Harvey carries 40 times for 132 yards, catches 4 passes for 10 yards and scores both TDs for the Illini in their streak snapper.
Harvey gives Illinois a 7-3 lead with an 8-yard TD run w/ :17 left in the 1st half. The Illini cling to that lead with a strong defense until Kurt Kittner hits Harvey for a 6-yard TD pass midway through the 4th quarter. The Wildcats cut the lead to 13-10 with 1:42 left but are unable to recover an onside kick.
