After Michigan dominates the 1st half, but only manages to lead Notre Dame 13-9, fortunes reverse dramatically in the 3rd quarter. Two straight drives end in fumbles, and the next with a blocked FG attempt, and the Irish are able to covert each into TDs and a 30-13 lead early in the 4th quarter. Michigan also misses 3 other FG attempts.

Autry Denson leads the way, rushing for 162 yards and 2 TDs. Jarius Jackson makes his 1st start for Notre Dame, throwing for a pair of TD passes during the critical stretch. Tom Brady makes his starting debut for the Wolverines and hits 23-of-36 for 267 yards and scores on a QB sneak in the 1st half.
