Winless Michigan State rolls Notre Dame from the very start opening a 42-3 lead by halftime. The Spartans jump in front quickly when Richard Newsome scoops up a blocked punt and runs it in from 25 yards out for the score.

Bill Burke caps Michigan State's 1st drive with a 16-yard TD pass to Gari Scott, the 1st of his 3 TD passes in the 1st half. Burke finishes 12-of-19 for 209 yards while Plaxico Burress catches 3 passes for 109 yards, including an 86-yard TD catch. Sedrick Irvin rushes for 119 yards and 1 TD.
