Boilermakers hang on for a 21-19 win over the Owls.

Purdue manages to resist RIce's upset bid thanks to a failed 2-point try and a clock-killing drive that follows. The Owls had drawn within 21-19 on Chad Richardson's 23-yard TD pass to Jason Blakewell w/ 3:58 left, but Michael Hawthorne breaks up Richardson's pass on the 2-point conversion and the Boilermakers are able to run out the clock.

Rice controlled the ball for over 40 minutes, but Drew Brees is still able to throw for 250 yards and 2 TDs and runs for another. Brees gives Purdue a 21-10 lead with a 9-yard TD pass to Randall Lane in the 3rd quarter.
