Notre Dame overcomes its slow starting track record by striking for TDs on its 1st 3 drives against Stanford en route to the rout. Jarious Jackson caps the 1st drive with a 22-yard TD run, the first of his 3 scores. Jackson finishes with 100 yards rushing and 163 yards passing.

Autry Denson and Jamie Spencer follow with TD runs in the 1st quarter. After the Cardinal get on the board with a FG, Jackson scores on a 7-yard TD run in the 2nd and a 5-yarder in the 3rd quarter to push the lead to 35-3.
