Wildcats hold off the Commodores for 19-17 win.

Kentucky's defense prevails in a battle for bowl eligibility, as the Wildcats become bowl eligible while Vanderbilt is faced needing an upset of rival Tennessee to qualify for its 1st bowl berth since 1982. The Commodores had pulled within 2 on Greg Zolman's 2-yard TD pass to Elliott Carson with 5:20 left and had the ball in Kentucky territory again, but the Wildcats force a fumble to end the threat.

Kentucky snapped a 10-10 tie when Zolman was called for intentional grounding in the end zone early in the 3rd quarter. The Wildcats stretch the lead to 19-10 on an 80-yard TD pass from Dusty Bonner to Quentin McCord.
