Texas Christian overcomes a fast start by East Carolina and dominates. The Pirates struck with a 59-yard TD pass from David Garrard to Arnie Powell less than 2 minutes into the game.

LaDainian Tomlinson rushes for 124 yards and 2 TDs. Tomlinson's 2-yard TD run the 1st quarter ties it 7-7, and his 3-yarder in the 2nd quarter opens a 21-7 halftime lead. After East Carolina rallies in the 3rd quarter, Russell Gary returns an INT 32 yards for a TD to push the Frogs' lead back to 2 TDs.
