Game Notes

Rebels get revenge with a 24-17 OT win over the Tigers.

Ole Miss gets an emotional victory against its former coach Tommy Tuberville. Tuberville was hired away at the end of the 1998 season, causing the showdown to be circled on many calenders.

The Rebels jumped in front of Auburn 14-3, but then had to rally to tie it 17-17 before surviving a missed 37-yard FG attempt by Damon Duval on the final play of regulation. In OT, Romaro Miller hits Cory Peterson with a 23-yard TD pass before being drilled and separating a shoulder on the play. The Ole Miss defense then stops the Tigers on downs after a 1st-and-goal at the 3, to win it.

Miller throws for 252 yards, also connecting with Peterson on a 54-yard TD pass on the opening drive. Peterson has 6 catches for 113 yards. Auburn loses its starting QB, Ben Leard with a shoulder injury in the 1st half.
