Mississippi State's defense prevails over an inconsistent offense and 21 penalties to beat Clemson. Wayne Madkins provides most of the offense for the Bulldogs, throwing for 176 yards and 1 TD and running for another.

After a scoreless 1st half, Mississippi State gets on the board with Scott Westerfield's 39-yard FG early in the 3rd quarter. Madkin finally finds the end zone with a 2-yard TD run early in the 4th quarter. After the Tigers draw within 10-7, Madkin connects with Dontae Walker on a swing pass that results in a 15-yard TD.
